Similar to side channeling, strikethrough occurs when air flows down a narrow channel within the adsorbent rather than evenly through the entire canister. This causes the granules in a large portion of the canister to be wasted, which obviously leads to decreased canister duration. This typically occurs from a hastily or poorly loaded canister, but can happen regardless of how much care is taken.
